After pickup from your Salzburg hotel, start your morning with a scenic drive, following an off-the-beaten-path route past the meadow where the opening scene of The Sound of Music was filmed. The road leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Berchtesgaden and after a short photo stop here continue to the Obersalzberg Eagle’s Nest. Disembark and walk through the tunnel to the original WWII brass elevator up to the Eagle’s Nest.

1. Eagle’s Nest – Enjoy 140 Minutes for you to explore on your own.
The Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) is a historic watch tower in Bavaria and provides a breath-taking view of the Alps at an elevation of 1,834 m. The Eagle’s Nest was built in 1938 as a present for Adolf Hitler’s 50th birthday. To reach the Eagle’s Nest. Through a 124 m long tunnel, you reach a magnificently decorated elevator which takes you up to the inside of the Eagle’s Nest building. This architectural masterpiece is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.

2. Dokumentation Obersalzberg – Explore the museum for 50 Minutes on your own.
Dokumentation Obersalzberg is a museum in the Obersalzberg resort near Berchtesgaden, providing information on the use of the mountainside retreat by Nazileaders, especially Hitler who regularly spent time in this area beginning in 1928. The museum was opened in 1999, and by 2007 had been visited by more than one million people. Now it’s time to descend toward the mountain town of Berchtesgaden for a visit to the Salt mine Berchtesgaden.

3. Salt Mine Berchtesgaden – 120 Minutes for you to explore the on your own.
The salt mine in Berchtesgaden is more than 500 years old and provides an interesting and exciting tour underground. The mine railroad takes you 650 m into the mountain before you reach the Salt Cathedral. The first slide takes you to the Stone Salt Grotto. Here, a salt laboratory and many other stations provide many interesting insights into the history of salt mining. After another exciting slide you reach the spectacular Spiegelsee (mirror lake) which you cross on a raft. Having explored here, emerge back into the daylight and after a short walk, visit the grounds of Hitler’s now destroyed home, known as the Berghof. Continue to the Königssee (King’s Lake) a glacial lake in an Alp-framed valley.

4. Kings Lake – Enjoy 30 Minutes for you to explore the on your own.
The world-famous Königssee (Kings Lake) is located within the Berchtesgaden National Park and is part of the municipality Schönau am Königssee. Look forward to dramatic scenery with the steep cliffs of the Berchtesgaden Alps dropping almost vertically into the shores of this beautiful, emerald green mountain lake which is up to 192 m deep. The peninsula St. Bartholomew with its baroque pilgrimage church is one of the most popular photo subjects. Behind it, the eastern wall of the mountain Watzmann arises. After a short photo stop at the lake, we will take a relaxed scenic return drive along the Königssee River to Salzburg, where your tour concludes with a drop off at your accommodation or chosen central location.

5. Hellbrunn Palace: Enjoy 30 Minutes for you to explore the on your own.
Schloss Hellbrunn is an early Baroque villa of palatial size, near Morzg, a southern district of the city of Salzburg, Austria. It was built in 1613–19 by Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, Prince Archbishop of Salzburg, and named for the “clear spring” that supplied it. Hellbrunn was only meant for use as a day residence in summer, as the Archbishop usually returned to Salzburg in the evening; therefore, there is no bedroom in Hellbrunn.
For more than 400 years, Hellbrunn Palace has enchanted and amazed its visitors with its trick fountains.
Hellbrunn “Trick Fountains” – The centerpiece is provided by Mannerist trick fountains which are absolutely unique. The idyllic setting in the south of Salzburg was perfect from another perspective as well: The teeming waters flowing down from Hellbrunn mountain essentially predestined water to become a central design element. At the heart of the grounds, the Mannerist “Trick Fountains”, which are quite unparalleled in the world today.
